The ‘Basic Skills’ and ‘Additional Learning Needs’ toolkits are two new interactive etraining packages. Developed for RISE, the UK's largest Learning Network, by the University of Wales, Newport’s, Institute of Digital Learning  in collaboration with many expert contributors, including NIACE Dysgu Cymru and PATOSS (the Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties).

The awareness raising toolkits are designed to encourage a greater understanding of the diversity of Basic Skills and Additional Learning Skills support needs in educational and employment contexts. The materials highlight individuals' support need experiences and common barriers faced by many people to learning and employment opportunities. The resources seek to provide service sector based frontline workers with tailored training designed to enhance the inclusive service approaches they offer to clients and colleagues.
